A History in Green
The name malachite is often linked to the Greek word for the mallow plant and its deep green leaves, with another possible origin referring to the stone’s softness. In the 19th century, malachite became especially prized in Russia, where it was used to adorn churches and palaces.

Malachite is relatively soft and sensitive to heat, acids, and abrasion. Avoid impact, perfume, household chemicals, steam, and ultrasonic cleaning. Wipe gently with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry thoroughly.
